THE PRACTICE TEAM

NURSING TEAM:

Our Practice Nurses and Nursing Assistant are on duty during surgery hours and see patients for routine procedures such as dressings, cervical smears, ear syringing, blood pressure monitoring, immunisations and travel advice. Our senior nurse provides monitoring of long-term conditions such as Asthma, Diabetes, Hypertension and Heart Disease. They are also available to discuss issues of health promotion. If you need to see the nursing staff, all routine and clinic consultations are by appointment only. Please ask at reception for a convenient appointment time.

The Practice nurse team run minor illness clinics with treatment for Sore Throat, Ear Ache, Fever, Rashes, etc. The minor injuries clinic is available for post-operative and traumatic wounds, insect bites, stings, head injuries etc.

COMMUNITY NURSING STAFF AND OTHER SERVICES WITHIN THE PRACTICE

The Practice works with the Primary Care Trust to provide additional services for our patients. Attached staff are employed by the Primary Care Trust but use our premises as a base to provide community services, details below:

District Nurses
Our District Nursing Team are responsible for the provision of continuing care for all patient groups, especially the elderly, chronically sick and disabled within their home environment.

Health Visitors:
The Health Visitors take a special interest in under-fives and their mothers. Usually they will visit all newborn children at 10 days and will contact all newly registered families with children under 5 years of age within one week.

Midwife:
Appointments for Antenatal clinics, postnatal follow-up prior to hand over to the the Health Visitor team.

Physiotherapy:
Referrals are available from GPs and clinical staff. Specialist back pain clinic available.

MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATIVE TEAM:

An excellent administration team supports the GPs at the Practice. The team includes a practice manager, medical secretaries, information manager, administrator and a team of receptionists.

The receptionists are often your first contact with the practice - making appointments, delivering messages, receiving requests for repeat prescriptions and generally looking after you. They have a difficult job but are always trying to help. All our staff are trained in confidentiality and the patient medical computer system.
