How
to book on the day you need to be seen:
Some appointments are available for patients needing
an appointment on the same day as the request being
made. Patients requiring an appointment for the same
day will be offered an appointment but will not be notified
which GP they are seeing. This enables the practice
to reduce waiting time, as all the GPs in that day will
take patients as soon as they are available. You need
to contact reception from 8.15 am to book an appointment
for that day.
If
you have an urgent medical problem and there are no
appointments left you will be seen as an "extra".
When contacting the surgery please indicate if you feel
the problem is urgent. To assess the degree of urgency
you will be asked for further details and these will
be passed to the doctor. The doctor may:
- Speak
to you on the phone
- See
you in the surgery (as soon as possible or at the
end of surgery)
- Visit
you (immediately or at the end of surgery)
- Advise
you go to the hospital A&E department
- Arrange
for you to be seen by a nurse
- Send
an ambulance
If
you are in a life-threatening situation or have severe
chest pain likely to be a heart attack please phone
for an ambulance by dialing 999.

How
to request a Home Visit:
Home
visits are made to patients who are unable for medical
reasons to attend the surgery. If you need a home visit
please try to phone before 10.30 am in order for the
visiting doctor to arrange their rounds.

How
to request a Telephone Consultation:
The
practice offers a telephone consultation services. If
you would prefer to speak to a GP rather than attending
the surgery please ask the receptionist for a telephone
consultation. You will be given an approximate time
and the GP will call you back. Telephone consultations
are held daily following morning surgery.
If
all the telephone consultations have been offered the
receptionist will take your details and ask a GP to
telephone you at the end of their planned work.
Telephone
consultations are not appropriate for nurse appointments.
If you wish to speak to a nurse please inform reception
who will ensure all the relevant details are passed
to the nurse who will phone you back.

When
to phone for results:
Due
to patient confidentiality the results can and will
only be given to the patient. Please contact the practice
after 3.00 pm for results as the practice only obtains
post from the hospital at 2.30 pm and we cannot give
results until they have been authorised by a GP.
Routine
urine and blood test results are normally available
after 3 working days. Swabs are usually available after
3 days. X-ray reports are generally at the practice
within 2 weeks. Cervical smear results are generally
available within the month.

Trainee/
work experience:
Occasionally
the practice will offer a placement or work experience
to people starting in a medical profession or students.
If we have a work experience person with us when you
request an appointment you will be asked if you are
happy for these people to observe your consultation.
If you would prefer for this not to happen please let
the clinician know when you attend.
